Great news! netoCiety is part of a consortium which I cannot say much about now but we (the consortium) have been selected to go through to the next stage in the UK Technology Strategy Board's Spring 2007 Competition. There is a two stage application process for funding, an outline application followed by a full application for projects successful at the outline stage.

The Technology Strategy Board advises on the selection of priority technology areas and the allocation of funding for the Technology Programme. The TSB has become established as an executive Non-Departmental Public Body with effect from 1 July 2007 with a vision for the UK to be seen as a global leader in innovation and a magnet for technology-intensive companies, where new technology is applied rapidly and effectively to create wealth.

Seven technology priority areas were identified but the one we submitted a proposal for and were successful in getting through to stage two in, was in the area of Networked Enterprise (the link is to a 2 page pdf document).

Increased use of digital ecosystems and collaborative working will allow value-adding innovators to enable and participate in new forms of dynamic networked cooperative business processes and knowledge-sharing, including the ability to work with and within complex supply chains. Potential gains include achieving business goals none can achieve alone and the ability to respond with speed and agility to emerging business opportunities.

I'm seriously excited about this Ever since I first started writing about this more than a year ago in my Innovation 2.0 article over on my personal blog, I was convinced that the one area in which WEB 2.0 technologies would be invaluable to the enterprise, was the area of innovation.

Watch this space...

Just picked this up on YouTube. It's a video from a seminar hosted a few months ago by The Churchill Club. Some interesting takes from a different point of view, i.e. from some senior venture capitalists, namely: John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers; Steve Jurvetson of Draper Fisher Jurvetson; Roger McNamee of Elevation Partners and Joe Schoendorf of Accel Partners (mediated by Tony Perkins of AlwaysOn).

Much praise for wikis...
